HSK 3.0: What Actually Changes in 2026
The HSK exam is in the middle of its biggest redesign since 2010. Officially called "HSK 3.0" or by its full Chinese name 国际中文教育中文水平等级标准, the new standard replaces the familiar 6-level test with a 9-band system, adds compulsory speaking and writing at every level, and roughly doubles the top-end vocabulary.
